Under the direction of the Energy Department Manager, ESS is responsible for the acquisition of new fuel, propane, oil and DEF accounts and the maintaining of relationships with existing customers. ESS is expected to manage territory by providing services and solutions to customers achieving sales volume and profitability goals, and implementing corporate strategic objectives.


Is knowledgeable of company programs, billing procedures, and monthly statement process.

Provides customer service by using all resources available including contracting programs, fuel and oil testing, specific recommendations and other programs needed. Follow up on customer complaints, seeks a reasonable “win/win” resolution.

Develops territory and competitive analysis to maintain current knowledge of the market place and the competition.

Provides value-added energy products, services, and recommendations to patrons and prospects. Meets regularly with patron on product and technical information.

Maintains a preferred prospect list and calls on prospective customers to solicit new business.

Communicates marketing programs and distributes sales promotion materials to customers and prospects.

Collects accounts as needed according to credit policy.

Submits required reports promptly as requested by supervisor and communicates activities in trade territory on a regular basis.


Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards and maintains the appropriate professional image.

Possess the requisite sales characteristics of tenacity, drive, commercial awareness, persuasiveness, and ability to close deals at all levels.

Possess excellent written and verbal skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.

Strong business acumen, strong computer skills, time management, and organizational skills

Performs all other duties as assigned.


Must be able to stay overnight on occasion.

Must have knowledge or willingness to learn all of applicable Company computer programs.

Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Must be able to lift 60 pounds.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Must be willing to work hours beyond those considered “normal.”

Must follow all rules and regulations of GRAINCO FS, Inc. as listed in the employee handbook.

  • Education and Experience*

Requires a high school diploma.

Normally requires 2 years of Sales experience.

  • Functional Competencies*

Understanding of energy products, record keeping, and reporting.

Proven ability to work independently and in a team oriented environment.
