Navigant Research, a part of Navigant's global Energy Practice, is a market research and consulting team that provides in-depth analysis of global clean technology markets. The team's research methodology combines supply-side industry analysis, end-user primary research and demand assessment, and deep examination of technology trends to provide a comprehensive view of these industry sectors.

Navigant Research is seeking a Associate Director to lead our transportation research program. The Associate Director is a well-regarded and established expert in the transportation market segment who is responsible for a syndicated research roadmap, manages the collection and analyzing of market data, and leads custom research projects. The role of the Associate Director provides Navigant Research clients with subject matter expertise with a deep understanding of the technology, business models, and pricing dynamics of the transportation market, and who has a prominent reputation within the industry, who is also actively engaged in conducting analytical research and writing, and who consistently delivers work of the highest quality, within budget and on time.
Specific responsibilities include:
Managing a team of analysts and subject matter experts supporting syndicated and custom research
Outlining research report roadmap, author assignments, and multi-client subscription products
Content management and content review for other research analysts’ projects
Quality assurance on quantitative market models and forecasts
Managing custom research projects that may include both secondary and primary market research
Maintain and grow client relationships by recognizing potential client needs and working with business development staff
Write and price proposal responses, assess potential internal resource needs to meet custom research project requirements
Participate in publicity, including writing short blogs, interacting with the press, and presenting at conferences
Represent the transportation research portfolio and thought leadership to clients and industry groups
Candidates should have strong knowledge and proven expertise in vehicle electrification, mobility, and alternative fuels as well as business aspects related to emerging demand-side energy technologies and utility applications, including:
Drones and UAVs
A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, business, economics, engineering or related higher education qualifications; graduate degree preferred
Minimum of 10 years direct industry experience
Management experience, including overseeing the work of direct analyst reports and subcontracted firms, organizing multiple projects, and ensuring client expectations and deadlines are met
Proven track record of client management and account growth
Exceptional writing skills
Solid quantitative analysis, ability to create forecasts using assumptions gleaned from primary research
Strong secondary research / information discovery and aggregation skills
Excellent presentation skills and executive presence
Extensive experience managing subscription products, clients, and delivering high-quality and responsive client service / international client experience preferred
Technology market research / industry analysis experience
Frequently communicates with clients and coworkers and must be able to share information effectively
Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
Flexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects in sometimes high-pressure situations simultaneously
Self-motivator with ability to work independently
Plan, direct, and coordinate work activities of others
Frequently travels by airplane, train or car as necessary to perform work at another location
