PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Mgr. Energy Acquisition Ops. is responsible for the day to day operation of PHI’s Energy Acquisition-Wholesale Billing & Administration (WBA) Team. This manager will be responsible for administration of wholesale contracts, deal capture, settlement and invoicing of WBA generation, gas and renewables transactions.
Responsible for interaction and communication with retail suppliers operating in the electric and gas retail choice marketplace. Manages daily operations associated with Exelon Utilities supplier coordination tariff and wholesale energy operations of Exelon as the Provider of Last Resort including transmission and generation metering, supplier load forecasting, energy and capacity scheduling, retail energy settlement, customer billing and EDI (electronic data interchange) functions.
Note: Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Guide and direct operations activities of Suppler Interface and Energy Interface teams in the areas of energy forecasting, scheduling, settlement, metering, tie-line, billing and EDI functions.
Responds to inquiries by Suppliers concerning retail choice issues including transmission service, forecasting, scheduling, settlement, customer switching, metering, billing, etc. Manages issues to resolution. Responsible for dispute resolution, marketplace tracking, and communications.
Promotes safety, diversity and engages employees in an environment that fosters open communication and high performance. Fosters development and coaching for employees and provides timely feedback regarding group and individual performance.
Represents Exelon/PHI in external relations with retail electric and gas suppliers, state regulators, consumer and environmental advocates, and the PJM regional transmission organization. Interfaces with several Exelon internal departments such as Legal, Regulatory, Customer and Marketing Services, Exelon Generation, and Transmission Operations.
Directs the management of retail choice agreements between PHI and Electric and Gas Choice Suppliers. Responsible for Electric and Gas Supplier registration process.
Provide direction and guidance in working with Exelon Generation personnel regarding forecasting analysis and reporting.
Bachelors Degree in business or related field and a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience, or, in lieu of a Bachelors degree, a minimum of 12-14 years of relevant experience.
An advanced degree is preferred.
Significant knowledge of processes and functions of the wholesale energy market. PJM specific experience preferred.
Significant experience in wholesale energy markets, including transmission and retail electric and gas operations.
Knowledge of regulatory and strategic issues associated with electric utility industry restructuring and specifically PHI's retail choice functions and processes.
Strong preference for technical background, financial aptitude, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills.
Specialized skills in negotiating, leadership, planning and decision making. Proven skills in managing change, influencing regulatory rulemakings and implementing new technologies.
Demonstrated competency in Exelon leadership fundamentals: safety, passion, stretch, focused actionable planning, ownership & accountability, leadership engagement, communication, personnel development, employee involvement, diversity, standardization, continuous improvement and celebration.
-the contract administration, deal capture, settlement and invoicing of WBA generation, gas and renewables contracts
-the use of the PJM Tools to extract data, perform settlements and prepare bilateral adjustments
-Preparation of FERC Form 1 & EQR filings
Primarily responsible for retail electric and gas supplier interface and communication for Exelon Utilities. ; Responsible for administering customer choice at Exelon Utilities through the management of business processes and systems for supplier interaction. ; Must champion changes to internal processes and systems as the retail choice marketplace changes and evolves. ; Manages resolution of retail supplier inquiries and disputes with Exelon Utilities retail choice processes including forecasting, energy and capacity scheduling, and energy settlement. ; Also responsible for daily metering and tie-line reconciliation with the PJM RTO.
Interfaces with external groups such as Public Utility Commission staff, Office of Consumer Advocate staff, and PJM ISO representatives. ; Actively promotes customer satisfaction and employee engagement activities.
Provide performance feedback to employees and provide input to Director for final performance ratings and resulting AIP adjustments.
Direct; 6 exempt employees
Accountable for managing operations staffing budget of approximately $600, 000.
