JOB DESCRIPTION
The Loudoun County Department of Family Services Benefits unit is currently seeking qualified applicants that are looking to work in a diverse, exciting and fast paced work environment which supports our Mission: To help people achieve safe and productive lives. This permanent part-time position (20 hours per week) will be responsible for determining eligibility for the Energy Assistance Program. In addition, this position is responsible for responding quickly and effectively to customer inquiries to resolve issues, answer questions, and handle any emergency situations that may arise. The candidate will also be required to complete SNAP and Medicaid renewals on an as needed basis when the Fuel Program is not active. State training will be provided.
The ideal candidate must have exceptional oral and written communication skills, as well as organizational and time management skills. The ideal candidate must have the ability to serve as a positive role model to their co-workers and function well in a team environment. In addition, the candidate must be able to learn complex federal, state, and local public assistance policies and have the ability to apply what they have learned to their caseload.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Requires any combination and education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in sociology, psychology, accounting, finance, or related field. Experience directly related to public assistance programs is preferred. Applicant must have the ability to work independently and have excellent decision making skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
