The Principal-Client Lead Energy & Utilities role is highly visible and focuses on expanding and selling work.

  • Successfully managing multiple and/or complex consulting projects at one or more clients

  • Ensuring meaningful client value is delivered through a strong mix of best-practices solutions, skills, and capabilities.

  • Developing trusted, long-term profitable relationships with the executive client buyers

  • Managing growth by identifying sales opportunities on existing accounts and developing newly sourced work.

  • Managing teams of North Highland consultants and client staff at client site

  • Leading the execution of internal business initiatives

  • Teaching others how to develop valuable business development skills, tools, templates, and frameworks.

  • Inspiring and motivating our consultants by embodying the firm’s vision, mission, values and strategy.

  • Leveraging experience and credibility in field to develop new solutions for our clients


  • 10+ years of management consulting, advisory, professional services and/or Big 4 consulting experience

  • Experience in supporting business expansion opportunities within existing accounts and bringing on new business opportunities

  • Heavy sales/business development experience and skills

  • Proposal development experience including the ability to effectively sell business solutions to clients

  • Heavy experience consulting in the Energy & Utilities industry

  • Running projects and managing teams; and delivery experience driving business requirements, identifying gaps and omissions, and designing solutions

  • Success in driving and managing significant account growth for key client

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university

Preferred Skills

  • Master's degree and/or professional certifications

  • Demonstrated track record of managing large and complex consulting engagements; including a role in managing and interfacing with senior level client executives

  • Ability to establish immediate credibility with clients and within the company; can build consensus and achieve goals through influence

  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills

  • Creative thinking and ability to seek innovative solutions to complex technical/business problems
