Will be responsible for successfully delivering utility Grid Modernization projects on time, on budget, and on specification. By managing to scope, cost, schedule and contractual deliverables, the Project Manager (PM) applies best practices in project management for effective budget and schedule performance management, tracking, control and communication of changes, risks and issues over the program lifecycle. This includes being accountable for the management of the client contract and statement of work, ensuring that contractual deliverables are managed within scope, schedule and defined costs. The PM is on the frontline every day; partnering with clients, vendors and Navigant partners to build trusted relationships, manage expectations, and deliver successful outcomes.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage Navigant full lifecycle projects in Grid Transformation and across Transformational Offerings as required.

  • Responsible for on time, on budget, on specification delivery of client projects.

  • Responsible for project team member hours tracking and reporting and achieving project margin targets.

  • Responsible for tracking, control and reporting on project performance to plan and project risks, issues and changes.

  • Responsible for managing contractual scope, schedule, and deliverables, including contract scope change management working with the client to document, review and implement approved changes.

  • Partners successfully with Business Development Directors and Key Account Leads to progress client projects through full lifecycle offerings.

  • Identifies and manages client satisfaction, quality and monetary risk associated with projects and proactively mitigates those risks.

  • Partners with the Director in Charge for day to day direction of the Navigant and subcontractor team priorities and activities

  • Serves as a point of contact with the client Project Lead/Manager and Buyer for all matters relating to the project.

  • Leads team and client status meetings to review technical, cost, and schedule status, risks and issues.

  • Leverages consulting experience, skills, and leadership competencies for team building, client relationship development, negotiation, decision making, problem solving, change and conflict management.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in information and/or operational technology infrastructure and systems planning, management, delivery and/or operations

  • 10+ years of experience in project management of energy and utility projects; must have experience working with Transmission and Distribution utility grid software and infrastructure initiatives; e.g. AMI/MDM, Demand Response, Field and Asset Management, Distribution Automation, Outage Management, Situational Awareness, Operational Analytics, IT/OT Systems Integration, Real-time Operations Control Systems, Organizational Change Management, Business Process Re-engineering, etc.

  • Experience developing trusted client relationships.

  • Experience with pre-sales activity – leveraging current client relationships to drive additional business with current clients or to identify new opportunity with prospects.

  • Exceptional communication, oral, and written communications.

  • Experience with the PMI project management standards, methodology and processes.

  • Experience developing project management planning, tracking, control and reporting processes, work products and deliverables.

  • Maintains professionalism and effective decision making in challenging, stressful, time constrained situations

Highly Desired Education and Certifications

  • MBA or MS Engineering degree

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Six Sigma certification

  • Frequently communicates with clients and coworkers and must be able to share information effectively

  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills

  • Flexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects in sometimes high-pressure situations simultaneously

  • Self-motivator with ability to work independently

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate work activities of others

  • Frequently travels by airplane, train or car as necessary to perform work at another location
