About the Position: The Institute for Energy Studies maintains a vacancy pol of qualified persons interested in temporary, non-tenure track teaching positions. The positions are usually part-time, with occasional opportunities for full-time appointments. Positions may become available at any time and are typically filled on a quarterly basis.

About the College/Department: The Institute for Energy Studies at Western Washington University exists to meet the demand for education and training related to human production and use of energy through interdisciplinary programs that combine the fields of science, technology and engineering with economics, business management, public policy, and sustainability. Our program is designed to be interdisciplinary in a way that provides both breadth and depth, with a practical toolkit of technical and analytic tools in a context of system-level thinking and understanding. We offer a BA in Energy Policy and Management, minors in Energy Science and Energy Policy, and an Energy Concentration in the Electrical Engineering BS degree. Position Responsibilities: The Department, the College and the University value teaching and seek exemplary teachers who are current in their discipline, who will actively engage students in their own learning, and who will comply with departmental guidelines and standards regarding course objectives, content, instructional format, and level of challenge. We expect students to be given feedback on their course work and examinations, and that adjunct faculty members will be available to students through regularly scheduled office hours.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent, relevant industry experience

  • Master's degree or higher in a related discipline

  • Successful teaching experience

  • Demonstrated experience and skills working with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff

Academic Emphasis: Energy Studies, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies and Environmental Science

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
