We are seeking an experienced Consultant to join our Energy and Utilities team in Austin, TX. Baker Tilly’s energy and utilities group serves clients such as utilities, renewable energy developers, manufacturers, and state, local, and tribal governments. The energy and utilities consulting group has provided clients financial, compliance, risk advisory, and process improvement services. Since 2008, this group has also been involved supporting the development and/or funding of over $3.3 billion of energy and infrastructure projects that are either operating or under construction. Our team includes professionals who are Certified Internal Auditors, Certified Public Accountants, and come from backgrounds in finance, renewable energy, and engineering.
As a Consultant, you will work with a select group of professionals aligned in an entrepreneurial and dynamic environment, to assist clients with solutions to help them meet their strategic, resource optimization, and capital procurement needs as it relates to energy and infrastructure. In addition you will partner with our clients to:
Assist clients in navigating, accessing, and monetizing federal and state incentives (Grants, Tax Credits, and other incentives)
Perform feasibility assessments and support business plan development for various energy and infrastructure development projects
Provide outsourced development support in areas such as feedstock agreements, power purchase agreements, contractor selection, and permitting support
Support senior-level personnel relative to financial advisory and funding procurement in the areas of debt, equity, tax equity, and other federal, state and local incentive programs
Develop tactical approaches to implement changes in strategy, service delivery and/or policy
Conduct processes, systems, and internal controls reviews to provide recommendations for increased efficiencies, system utilization, and a stronger control environment
Perform performance reviews, internal audits, and regulatory and contract compliance reviews for utilities and state commissions

Serve on client projects and assist or manage client relationships.
Perform detailed financial modeling.
Perform energy and other market research.
Assemble and manage project development plans and budgets on behalf of clients.
Interface with client vendors (equipment suppliers, construction contractors, other third party service providers) and help evaluate and summarize proposals.
Effectively support the presentation of conclusions and recommendations using visuals and written content.
Interview clients to better understand processes and to recommend improvements.
Provide productivity enhancements through process re-engineering, internal controls review and performance measurement.
Research issues and prepare whitepapers on current industry trends and issues.
Develop articles, sales proposals and presentations for new business development and client purposes.
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Finance or Economics preferred. Engineering degree with additional business application experience considered.
1-3 years of consulting or similar experience preferred.
A strong work ethic and willingness to take on a variety of roles and levels of responsibility in a dynamic and entrepreneurial setting.
In addition to, or in lieu of consulting experience, prior experience in an energy or infrastructure project development based organization.
Specific experience with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with other data manipulation software, such as Tableau, a plus.
Strong writing skills, specifically in regards to preparing and submitting various grant applications on behalf of clients.
Understanding of energy markets with a specific emphasis on the historic and current renewable energy landscape in the United States.
Understanding of energy generation technologies in the renewable and fossil generation markets.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate commitment to continuous learning in order to stay current regarding strategies and regulations, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of duties.
Ability to travel up to 25% or more for client engagements as required.
