Senior Energy Market Advisor
Represent NYPA on a daily basis in external stakeholder discussion and collaborate on issues of mutual interest at the NYISO, PJM, and FERC.
Responsible for casting NYPA’s vote on wholesale market matters at Voting Committees of the NYISO Governance.
Day-to-day monitoring of FERC filings and assessment and identification of recommended NYPA action.
Represent NYPA as determined by the Senior Director Market Issues on stakeholder Committee and Working groups.
Day-to-day monitoring of evolving changes in wholesale market rules including New England and PJM ISO’s.
Coordinate and provide issues briefings to NYPA’s Senior Management.
In-depth knowledge of wholesale market structure and rules in the Northeast required
Excellent, conflict resolution skills required
Ability to problem-solve and effectively operate within a large, dynamic environment
Ability to identify problems and business threats and independently develop tactical and/or strategic solutions, including an assessment of the policy and financial solutions of those solutions required
Ability to independently make decisions as necessary, and willingness to take positions with minimal oversight required.
Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks as required
Ability to chair large committees/working groups from different industry sectors
Excellent judgment and discretion.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with ability to interact with diverse internal and external constituents
Good working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or the equivalent.
A graduate or law degree is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of utility experience and a thorough working knowledge of wholesale market design in the Northeast
