AECOMs Energy Efficiency Engineering Group is responsible for identifying energy savings opportunities for large complex commercial and institutional facilities. Our Engineering team’s primary focus is to analyze current energy systems and consumption and to make recommendations for energy upgrades necessary to decrease overall energy usage and costs at our customers facilities. Our energy engineering team investigates both supply and demand side opportunities where applicable and looks for ways to incorporate renewable technologies when appropriate.
Critical to the success of our engineering team is the role of the Energy Project Development Manager who will oversee the engineering resources developing projects in our federal and MUSH markets Nationally. This position reports to the Assoc. VP of Operations and is located in Southern CA.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supervise a diverse group of Energy Engineers, and Development Engineers
Manage and coordinate project assignments for the engineering team with Regional/National opportunities in the Federal and MUSH markets
Mentor and develop direct reports, including goal setting and career development planning, conducting annual performance evaluations, and setting training program requirements
Assist Operations Manager in forecasting labor requirements on a monthly and quarterly basis. Involved in annual planning and budgeting for the Engineering Department
Responsible for talent acquisition and retention of engineering staff
Responsible for leading the knowledge growth and training of new technology for the engineering team
Overall responsible for QA/QC processes and the quality of the work product developed by the engineering team
Responsible for all engineering budgets delivered for development activities by the engineering team
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
PE license required in CA
Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
15+ years of experience in energy engineering analysis and HVAC and EMS design
Experience in developing M&V plans for large complex ESPC projects
Skilled in working with M&V teams in evaluating annual project performance and M&V data and M&V reports
Experience in the following: management of engineering resources for an ESPC contractor; developing a wide variety of energy conservation measures for ESPC; developing EMS control strategies to reduce energy consumption; developing detailed cost estimates for mechanical HVAC systems, complete understanding of eQuest and Excel based energy models
Experience writing, reviewing and optimizing EMS control sequences of operation to control building energy consumption
Experience in FEMP M&V requirements for ESPC contracts
Proficient in MS Office software; exceptional understanding and use of Excel, excellent oral and written communication skills and prior experience dealing with customers
Excellent presentation skills and ability to convey complex engineering principles in an interview setting to a non-technical audience
Must be a team player with the ability to be a player/coach at times
