Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler is seeking a Junior-Level Mechanical Engineer to execute mechanical engineering requirements independently or as a member of a design team, including drawings, plans, specifications and studies. Individual will perform site energy assessments; analysis and lighting layouts and significant CADD work. Design tasks will include Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and System selection and layout for facility and industrial plumbing systems and facility heating ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Key Responsibilities
•Executes facility mechanical engineering HVAC and plumbing designs IAW applicable codes and standards
•Evaluates LEED/sustainable equipment/material opportunities for new construction and renovation projects
•Performs field energy audits. Model facilities' energy use to support equipment change out and selection
•Performs facility system assessment field work
•Generates workload plans, design analyses, drawing plans, specifications, cost estimates and estimated construction schedule
•Supports proposals generation
•Significant CADD/GIS work with AutoCAD MEP
•Reviews work of and provides guidance to junior engineers
•Typical projects include repair/replacement and new facility system designs for Department of Defense installations worldwide, with construction values ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars
•Will travel with the team to projects sites in the US and international - Approximately 25% overnight travel

Skills / Qualifications

Required
•BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
•Has EIT or will achieve EIT within first year of employment
•0 - 4 years + of facility HVAC/plumbing/energy design experience
•Knowledgeable of and has performed energy modeling
•Knowledgeable with Codes and industry standards (ex. NFPA, IPC, ASHRAE, etc.)
•Under direct supervision, ability to write design analyses, specifications, estimate project costs, and estimate construction schedule durations
•Under direct supervision, ability to manage and execute multiple project activities from concept design through construction closeout
•Under direct supervision, ability to generate own drawing packages with AutoCAD
•Has or has ability to get a US Passport
•Ability and willingness to travel 25% average with specific projects potentially requiring extended travel - US and overseas travel possible
•Must pass drug screen, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy

Preferred
•Experience with REVIT
•Experience with Trane TRACE or HAP
•Experience with Facility Condition Assessments and the use of BUILDER
•Commissioning experience
•Life cycle costing
•Experience in performing energy audits
•Prefer some DoD experience (UFCs, UFGS, SpecsIntact) but not mandatory
