National Grid Intern, RI Energy Innovation Hub in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Purpose:

Our Internship Program will allow you to participate in a broad range of meaningful work experiences that are related to your interest and field of study. The students will be a group of trained and qualified students dedicated to supporting the National Grid customer experience by complementing Company resources and responding to customer questions and concerns on:

Energy efficiency choices (rates/rebates/technology options)

In home technology devices

Customer troubleshooting

Provide additional information on Home Energy Assessments

Connect to employee expertise as necessary

Implement local education and outreach tactics on the benefits of energy efficiency, ConnectedSolutions, solar and electric vehicles.

In addition, the Internship Program should create momentum to further identify local champions of the program and provide opportunities for increased engagement, to teach customers to use new technology effectively, and to encourage participants to give feedback and support each other in technology applications.


Key Accountabilities:

· Assist all customers in a very customer focused manner

· Attend all Energy Innovation and Energy Efficiency Training

· Staff Energy Innovation Hub for set shift - advise Energy Innovation Hub Manager if unable to staff shift

· Answer customer questions and refer any escalated questions to Energy Innovation Hub Manager or technical team

· Assist customers in using technologies/in home displays control devices and electronic thermostats

· Refer customer billing concerns to call center personnel

· Conduct Energy Innovation Hub tours

· Present at and or Staff community events or store events to promote benefits of energy saving technology for consumers

· Present at K-12 schools

· Update Social Media platforms

· Identifying customer champions to share successes on Energy Innovation Hub

· Assist in developing social pilot to attract people to the Energy Innovation Hub

· Develop powerpoint presentations and other content as necessary

· Lead projects to assist in Energy Innovation Hub operations

· Attend bi-weekly staff meetings to discuss any concerns

· Secure building at the end of shift if applicable

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:

· Must maintain the following academic standing for the entire duration of the assignment

o GPA 3.2 minimum for Graduate Students

o GPA 3.0 minimum for Undergraduate Students

· Achieved Sophomore level at minimum

· At least 18 years of age

· Authorized to work in the United States

· Provide a valid transcript before beginning assignment

· Working toward a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Environment, or Engineering

· High level of Hub/office technology proficiency preferred

· Excellent English communication proficiency (Spanish/Chinese/Vietnamese a plus)

· Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

· Outstanding judgment and professional demeanor
