Statoil is an international energy company with operations in more than 30 countries. Statoil's renewables business is growing rapidly, and we are already innovators in offshore wind and a world leader in carbon capture and storage. Our ambition is to grow profitably and expand into other sources of renewable energy.
The renewable portfolio includes several assets where Statoil today has a world leading position, including floating offshore wind, innovative battery solutions to improve performance from wind based electricity production. Statoil has research facilities and long lasting operational experience from capturing and storing large volumes of Co2 (CCS) and advanced plans to introduce clean natural gas in order to offer emission free energy to existing natural gas buyers by removing and storing Co2 before the energy is delivered as hydrogen at very large scale.
All these solutions have the potential to contribute significantly to reducing global Co2 emissions. In this context it is essential to fully understand the carbon footprint generated through the entire value chain for the products Statoil offer today and also for potential new value chains Statoil could offer in the future as a response to taking a leadership role in decarbonizing the global energy markets.
