Position Title HVAC Mechanic - Energy Recovery Operations

Job Summary

  • Troubleshoot, operate, maintain, and repair incinerators, waste heat boilers, and associated auxiliaries.

  • Operate, maintain and repair incinerator, waste heat boilers and auxiliary devices.

  • Clean and inspect baghouse and wet ash conveyor components.

  • Prepare incinerators, waste heat boilers and baghouse interiors for internal (cold) and external (operating) inspections;

  • Perform preventive maintenance, equipment lubrication, and daily inspections in accordance with the PM program;

  • Institute corrective action and/or inform his supervisor on any deficiencies found in the course of performing the job;

  • Direct maintenance personnel as assigned by Chief Engineer.

  • Perform other job related work as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must possess Class I stationery engineer license, DC 3rd steam boiler engineer license or equivalent.

  • Must possess universal CFC certification.

  • Able to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Working knowledge of piping systems

  • Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions.

  • A willingness to work scheduled rotational shifts, including days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends, as required.

  • Four years experience in commercial/industrial operations that includes two (2) years or more experience in maintenance and repair on commercial-industrial building equipment to include, but not limited to: boilers, steam heaters, pumps, conveyors, hydraulics.

  • High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, have obtained and able to maintain Top Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems.

  • Be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of incinerator basics and theory.

  • Ability to write correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Have basic computer skills.

  • Formalized training in stationery engineering or related crafts
