CTC has an opportunity for a qualified Energy Storage Systems Engineer at Arlington, VA. ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS ENGINEER Primary Responsibilities: CTC is seeking an Energy Storage Systems Engineer to Department of Defense (DoD) organizations conducting renewable and alternative energy engineering analysis and specifying energy project requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience with design and specification of multiple large scale alternative energy projects utilizing electrical storage infrastructure of all types. This individual functions as the subject matter expert for evaluation and implementation of alternative energy project opportunities involving energy storage systems. The successful candidate will be capable of developing and applying advanced mechanical and electrical engineering design methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced technical problems. The Energy Storage Systems Engineer plans, conducts and technically directs projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of engineers and technical support staff. This individual analyzes, evaluates and plans methods and organizes means to achieve solution of complex technical problems. The selected Engineer will conduct investigations or tests of considerable complexity pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes and investigate possible applications of results. This will include reviews of literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects. The Systems Engineer recommends corrections in technical analysis and design and evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. The successful candidate may also be responsible for provide technical consultation to other organizations and work leadership for lower level employees. The successful candidate will have experience in electrical storage infrastructure of all types including battery, flow, salt, gases, flywheel, fuel cell and hydro storage technologies. The position requires engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development, and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline required to meet technical requirements for all project opportunities involving energy storage systems. The Systems Engineer makes recommendations and advises on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts. This individual performs risk assessments and analyses employing modeling and simulation techniques. The selected candidate will provide systems engineering to specify renewable energy requirements and identify issues and approaches for integration with distribution and transmission grid systems. They must be capable of working closely with renewable systems Subject Matter Expert to develop layout, output, Operations and Maintenance (OandM), and interconnection requirements. The Energy Storage Systems Engineer works closely with DoD representatives and project teams to monitor energy sector developments pertinent to the operating environment, i.e. changes in technology, issues related to renewable and alternative energy facility construction, and legal and regulatory changes within the sector.
