  • Perform in-depth credit analysis of new and complex credit requests for prospects and existing customers

  • Work with Relationship Managers and Credit Policy Officers to assess credit opportunities, identify key risks, and structure alternatives

  • Assist the Line of Business Manager in leading a team of underwriters, includes recruiting, training, evaluating, promoting and mentoring underwriters and staff and budgeting requirements

  • Coordinate the underwriting schedule, maximize productivity among underwriters and manage deadline expectations to ensure above standard performance

  • Manage the underwriting process for the Energy portfolio, including consistency in policy and procedures and the relationship between Underwriting and the Credit Group

  • Assist the Credit Group in ensuring Energy portfolio complies with all regulatory and policy requirements and managing regulatory reporting and audit inquiries

  • Support the Line of Business Manager in managing portfolio and any quarterly reporting requests

  • Manage special projects as determined by the Line of Business Manager and Credit Group

  • Perform quality control techniques by identifying and resolving any issues within the underwriting standards and procedures

  • First line of communication and coordination with procedural notifications and projects from Credit, Engineering, Corporate Compliance, Loan Operations, L/C Department and other bank groups

  • Create and maintain a training process and all underwriting templates within the department that promotes teamwork, enhances underwriting skills and increases productivity levels

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or related business field from a four year college or university

  • 5-10 years minimum experience in Energy Banking in a credit analysis and/or underwriting role, with a proven ability to perform in-depth credit analysis on new and complex credits

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to read and assess individual and company financial statements, reserve reports, drilling schedules and engineering reports

  • Prior experience leading other team members preferred

  • Ability to mentor, develop mentor relationships and promote team orientation

  • Completion of a formal credit training program

  • Ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships

  • Proven problem recognition and resolution skills

  • Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational abilities

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and successfully execute multiple tasks concurrently
