Position Summary

Our Energy & Power practice group specializes in projects involving the analysis and design of building, campus energy and district utility infrastructure systems. This group provides design and consulting expertise in a variety of energy projects, with specialization in Utility Master Planning, Energy Management, District Energy and Combined Heat and Power.

Our Chicago office is searching for an Energy and Power practice Program Manager to join their team. In this position you will have the opportunity for:

  • Business development

  • Client relationship management

  • Practice group portfolio management

  • Leadership and mentoring of engineering design production team

  • Preparing fee proposals and project execution strategies

  • Training, quality control, engineering design and energy analysis

The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for developing and leading Energy and Power related projects including power generation, central utility plants, electrical substations and distribution improvements for higher education, institutional, industrial and utility clients. The individual would be the company’s prime contact with the client and as such be responsible for promoting continuing relations and developing new work. They are also responsible for coordinating project staffing, overseeing the execution of professional services, as well as participating in major technical, cost, scheduling and performance decisions with clients.


  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required

  • Professional Registration (P.E.) is required, or ability to obtain within one year; CEM is a plus

  • Minimum of 15 years experience on energy or utility projects, with 10 years in project management preferred

  • Experience including energy and power engineering preferred, including central plants (heating and cooling), power generation, utility distribution and infrastructure, energy studies, energy management and utility master plans

  • Some travel required
