The energy system is rapidly changing towards a more sustainable system. The integration of intermittent renewable energy sources requires that the energy demand (partly) follows the supply and a fully bidirectional energy system emerges.

ICT enables the new functionalities required for such a system and at the same time introduces all kinds of opportunities to add new values to the energy system and its stakeholders.

Our customers are utilities, transmission / distribution system operators, governments, regulators as well as investors in the energy market. Our projects are diverse and could be about market developments and their effects, changes in policy or market design, power balancing, model based scenario planning or validation and certification of smart grids.

Your will develop new data driven services and projects for our customers, perform data analysis in these projects and use the results to advise our customers.

As Consultant, you will work on multiple projects at the same time. You will be part of the section Market & Policy Development.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

You will be working in a customer-facing environment, either as project team member or project task-leader, on projects in the areas of energy data analytics, flexibility and demand response.

You will provide insight in data, capturing the essence, and creating accessible, graphs, presentations and reports.

Next to that, you will:

  • Analyze data on several energy related topics

  • Develop new tools or models to analyze (future) energy systems or markets

  • Use the results to advise our customers

  • Write (or contribute to) clear and high quality presentations and reports and commercial offers

  • Identify market opportunities and develop our existing services and establish new services for both the team and our company

Based on your experience, we will create a plan together with you for your development for the next few years. We will do this through our 70-20-10 philosophy: 70% learning on the job, 20% coaching and 10% training.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with software development, (energy) data analytics, data mining techniques, machine learning, data management, SQL, one or more programming languages, preferably ‘R’ and/or Python

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Excel

  • Interest in the energy transition, as well as in energy markets and processes

  • Able to write clear and high quality reports and commercial offers

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English

  • Available to travel (inter)nationally

  • You are able to work independently, are goal-oriented and have a flexible attitude

  • You are eager to interact with our customers

  • You take responsibility for your own tasks and competences

We’re looking for a team player who takes initiative, is analytical and is eager to understand the technical consequences of a business decision as well as the business consequences of a technical decision.

What else?

  • A Master’s degree or higher in Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science or similar technical study

  • Work experience of 2-3 years in the energy sector
