Power Customer Satisfaction Award* Professional Women's Magazine/Black EOE Journal "Best of the Best"* Computerworld's 100 Best Places to Work in IT* Best Employers for a Healthy Lifestyle Gold Award* Detroit Free Press Green Leaders AwardDescriptionJob Summary:A Senior Business Financial Analyst in the Controller - Energy Trading Accounting business unit is responsible for recording complex transactions in accordance with GAAP, review and/or preparation of account reconciliations, analyzing financial data including variance analysis, preparation and/or review of quarterly data for external reporting, and preparation of various management reports.Key Accountabilities:•Record complex monthly journal entries in SAP in accordance with corporate timelines.•Analyze financial information to ensure transactions are processed accurately in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).•Comply with accounting controls and procedures.•Ensure DTE Energy Trading general ledger accounts are reconciled in a timely manner.•Report and analyze business performance.•Perform variance analysis on various financial reporting views, including, but not limited to, actual versus budget and current period versus prior period actual.•Respond to requested deliverables made by internal/external auditors and other Controller's Organization departments.•Create or update documentation of key accounting processes and procedures.•Monitor work practices and utilize continuous improvement and lean systems methodology to improve processes.•Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives, cross functional teams and projects.•Create a positive working environment by supporting DTE Energy and Controller's Organization initiatives including training and development, diversity, work and personal life balance and enterprise core values.Qualifications-Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance-Required: Five years of accounting experience in corporate and/or public accounting.-Preferred: CPA, CMA, MBA or Master's in Accounting preferred.-Experience in the preparation/review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.-Experience in derivative accounting/commodity markets preferred.-Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.-Ability to work with and analyze large amounts of data.-Ability to organize work independently and to work in teams.
